Ohhhh man today's run was capital R-o-u-g-h. BUT! I think that was absolutely needed to kick my butt. I realized this morning that my upcoming 5K is less than THREE weeks away. Yikes!
As I left the house, I set a goal for today's run. Now remember, I haven't ran (seriously ran, not that treadmill half-running junk) in like a week and a half. Would my legs fall off? Would my side stich spontaneously combust? I'll get to these in a minute.
So the Goal: Run 2 miles in less than 25 minutes.
I know that's easy peasy for a lot of people, but I'm slow and I'm okay with that!
How I did: 2 miles in.....21:31! Hollaaaa!
This was with like a million walk breaks (okay, like 4) by the way. But when I ran, I booked it.
My legs didn't fall off - yesss - and I didn't get one single side cramp or stitch - double yessss! Unfortunately, I thought my lungs would explode, and I wouldn't have had to stop if I had been able to breathe. Why won't this get better? Doesn't lung capacity expand and increase when you work out consistently?
